He was predeceased by: his mother Emma McGowan; his former wife Linda McGowan (Fisher); his wife MaryJo McGowan (Garrety); his son Tedd McGowan; and his stepdaughter Frances Garrety.
He is survived by: his sons, Tom McGowan, Timothy McGowan (Debra Bailey) of Mt. Holly Springs and Todd McGowan (Danita) of Drystown; his stepson David Garrety (Wendy) of Harvey's Lake; and his brother Jim McGowan of West Virginia.
