She was predeceased by : her parents, Paul H. Shughart and Evelyn Shughart (Garman); and her sister Arlene R. Jennings. She is survived by : her husband George L. Young; her daughters, Wendy M. Holtry (Marshall) of Carlisle and Bridget A. Minich (Charles) of Carlisle; her grandchildren, Amber Shaffer of Danville, Samantha Holtry of Carlisle, Bradley Minich (Morgan) of Marysville, Andrew Minich (Samantha Harding) of Carlisle and Matthew Minich of Carlisle; her great grandchild Kennedy Minich; and her sisters, Kathryn M. Huntzinger of Carlisle and Paula J. Fletcher of California.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 15th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Bethany Evangelical Church (558 Petersburg Rd, Carlisle, PA 17015).

Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's name to the American Cancer Society at Cancer.org and Bethany Evangelical Church (earmarked Bethany House).
