He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. George and Alice M. Finkey George; and his wife Beverly A. Fry George. He is survived by: his daughters, Stephanie G. Douglas (George) and Angela A. Lane (Matthew); his grandchildren, George F. Douglas, IV, Justine M. Douglas, Amya M. Lane and Addison A. Lane; his sisters, Romaine "Sis" K. Alspaugh (Robert) of Carlisle, Joyce E. Zinn of Newville and Anna Marie Hess of Concord, NC; and his siblings-in-law, Andrea L. Snoke (Roy) and Donald A. Fry (Cynthia) of Shippensburg.
