He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Sr. and Emma Sheriff (Minich); his sister Margaret T. Watson; and his half-brother William Russell. He is survived by: his wife Lavonda Louise Sheriff (States) of Carlisle; his children, Cathy Mae Sheriff (Carlisle), Gerald Leon Sheriff (Connie) of Gardners and Gloria Louise Sheriff of Carlisle; his brother John Henry Sheriff Jr. of Carlisle; his grandchildren, Justin Sheriff (Theresa) of Carlisle, Amanda Sheriff-Bollinger (Michael) of Hellam, Jason Sheriff (Nichole) of Carlisle and Jeremy Norcross of Carlisle; and his great grandchildren, Kaylie, Aubrie, Brody, Ella, Easton and Emmett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homeland at Home Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way #270 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
