He is survived by: his wife Anne Renfrew Backenstow (Porter); his son Ian Andrew Backenstow; his daughter-in-law Melissa Backenstow of Falls Church, VA.; his daughter Claire Ruth Backenstow; his granddaughter River Lily Backenstow-Bosten of Carlisle, PA; his brother Earl Backenstow (Barnette) of Otter Rock, OR; his sister-in-law Sue Porter of Vancouver, BC; his nieces and nephews, Erin Backenstow, Elizabeth Backenstow, Kelly Dunn Lewis (Chris), Kathy Dunn, Jeff Dunn, Samuel Porter, Joe Porter and James Porter; his great-nephew Jacob Lewis (Anna); and his cousins, Pat O'Neil (Lynn) and Garnet O'Neil-Johnson (Swen). He is also survived by many other cousins, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
Don Emery Backenstow, 80, of Carlisle and formerly of Venice, Florida, died on Saturday, April 20th, 2024, in Carlisle, PA, his home for the last 50 years, after a 12-year battle with Parkinson's disease.
