He is survived by: his brother Leo Merchant; his children, William G. Merchant of Bridgeville, Ann McGinnis (Thomas W.) of San Diego and Charles A. Merchant (Lisa); his daughter-in-law Virginia L. Merchant of Irwin; his grandchildren, Jessica Hunt (Ed), Will Merchant (Kelly), Andrew Merchant (Mary), Kathryn J. McGinnis, Thomas A. McGinnis (Stephanie), Joseph R. Merchant and Christopher C. Merchant; and his girlfriend Dr. Dolores Boniface. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
