He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James Dowd Sr. and Virginia Strough Dowd; and his sister Maureen Handzel (Joseph Handzel). He is survived by: his wife Joyce "Joy" Byrnes Dowd; his sons, Bobby Joe Dowd and Andrew Dowd; and his siblings, Daniel R. Dowd (Sandra Dowd), Michael Dowd (Cynthia Dowd) of Yorktown, VA and Judith Lynch (Brian Lynch).
Visitation was held on Sunday, November 3rd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Calendar Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (304 W Pike St, Canonsburg, PA 15317). A prayer was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 8:30 AM and at 8:40 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 9:00 AM at the Calendar St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish (317 W Pike St, Canonsburg, PA 15317). A burial was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Calendar National Cemetery (1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Autism Society.
