James Desantis Obituary
James DeSantis, 93 of Canonsburg, formerly of Burgettstown, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 in his home. He was born December 15, 1918 in Summerville, a son of the late Matteo and Frances DiCarlo DeSantis. Prior to retirement, Mr. DeSantis was employed by Harmon Creek Coal Co and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 5, Local 6754.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Burgettstown. Mr. DeSantis enjoyed watching sports on TV, going to the casino and out to dinner, but most especially, attending family gatherings. Surviving are his daughter, Susan (Bill) Becker of Canonsburg, his son, James (Nancy) DeSantis of Aurora, CO, his stepdaughters, Carol (Tim) Chopp of New Jersey and Allison (John) Beck of Washington, his stepdaughter-in-law, Joanie Webb, his brother, George (Dolores) DeSantis of Burgettstown, his sister, Mary Comport of Burgettstown, 4 Grandchildren, John (Allison) Welch, Lynn Welch, Jim DeSantis, and Karen (Howard) Heffelfinger, 9 Step-grandchildren, Matthew (Fran) Chopp, Megan (Walter) Bodie, Jeff Beck, Carmen and Riley Webb, Bill, Dayna, Stacey, and Dan Becker, 4 Great-grandchildren, Molly and Nora Welch, Lucy and Belle Heffelfinger, 3 Step-great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jonathon Chopp, and Kyle Bodie.
Deceased are his first wife, Frances Bokulich DeSantis who died in 1979, his second wife, Susanna Webb DeSantis who died in 2003, 2 sisters Edith Comport and Ann Spiotta, 4 Brothers, Louie, Harry, John “Salty”, and Tony DeSantis. Friends will be received from 2-8 PM Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where a blessing service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, Oct. 26, with Rev.
George Moneck officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Burgettstown.
