He was predeceased by: his parents, Marcus Wayne and Mary Alice Wade McGinnis; his wife Rose Mary Meals McGinnis; his children, Mary Jane Meals and Gary Wade McGinnis; his grandsons, Jeffery Detar and Dylan Meals; his sister Belva Grantz; his brothers-in-law, Camillus Shirey and John Savage; and his nephew Medal of Honor Recipient, PFC Ross McGinnis.
He is survived by: his children, Tarena Lehnortt (Jason Rottman) of Knox, Pamela Shay (William) of Callensburg and David Alan Meals of Kingsbury, IN; his son-in-law Everett Lehnortt of Foxburg; his grandchildren, Tiffiny Shirey (Josh) of Emlenton, Tina Painter (Kolt) of Sligo, Peyton, Kyndel Shay of Callensburg, Christopher Detar of Florida and Mary Detar of Butler; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Josh, Tyler, Halee, Kolton, Zay and Damarae; and his siblings, Mary Savage, Phyllis McGinnis, Elaine Shirey, John McGinnis (Marian), Thomas McGinnis (Romaine) and George McGinnis (Kris). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
