He was predeceased by: his parents, Ewing Areford and Cecil Evelena Areford (Knight); his siblings, Ewing, Jr., Daniel, Dale, Jim, Frank, Bill, Walker Areford, Dorothy Headlee, Sarah Boone and Letha Vernon; and his daughter Sandra Jones.
He is survived by: his wife Alvina Josephine Whipkey; his children, Eugene Areford of Waynesburg, Gloria White (Bill) of Jefferson, Susie Wine (Chuck) of Waynesburg, Thomas Areford of Clarksville, Karen Areford of Graysville and Teresa Eddy (Shaun) of Waynesburg; his stepdaughter Susie Hamilton (Mark) of Avella; and his sister Betty Rockwell of Jefferson. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
