He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert A. Atchison Sr. and Velma Bowman Atchison. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Atchison of California; his children, Denise Teets, Michael Atchison and Billy Atchison; his stepdaughter Melissa Boston (Derek); and his siblings, Terry Atchison (Shelly) of Bentleyville, Mary Ann Atchison of Washington, Diane Atchison of North Carolina and Velma Kehn (William) of Arizona. He is also survived by several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
