He was predeceased by: his son Berenice Cowen (Gayman); his brothers, Laird and John Herschel Cowen; and his son-in-law Donald Richardson. He is survived by: his son Herschel; his wife Pat; his children, Leigh Cowen Richardson and Kurt Cowen (Denise); his grandson Luke Richardson; and his stepgranddaughter Bianca Niccolai.
