He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph H. McKain II and Leola M. Tirk McKain; and his sister Janice Ross. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Schnur; his sons, Joseph McKain, IV and Eric McKain (Brandee); his stepchildren, David Schnur (Corinne), Jamie Pyle and Michele "Mousey" Schnur; his grandchildren, Jordan McKain, Paige McKain, Layla McKain, Harlee McKain, Dalton Pyle and Alexis Pyle; his siblings, James McKain and Judy Flick (Don); and his pet Diesel. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.
