He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul E. Shober and Anne Shober (Dodson); and his wife Patricia Shober (Hogue). He is survived by: his stepson Victor Orantes; his stepgrandchild Cheyenne Orantes; his sisters, Janet Linn (Kurt), Joanne Noel (Steve), Beth Chatman (late Dudley) and Mary Patricia House (Robert); his nieces and nephews, Joshua Chatman, Laura Klipa (Justin), Kelley Kali Chatman Rhodes (Brian), Alexis Noel (David MacNair) and Julie House; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Coleton, Analinn and Simayah.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
