He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard R. Slater and Ann Slater (Crevar); his stepdaughter Danielle Leight; and his granddaughter Haley Leight. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Shaffer; his children, John D. Slater (Michelle), Janice Neff (Russell) and Barry Slater (Raine); his stepdaughter Nicole Leight; and his sister Karen Shay. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
