She was predeceased by: her parents, James P. "Rex" Mahood and Caroline Mahood (Milliron). She is survived by: her siblings, Susan Mahood (Bob Barone) of Pittsburgh, Cynthia "Cindy" Collins (Dean) of Franklin and James "Jim" Mahood of Butler. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

“I became friends with Carol when I was 18 and she was 20. I moved to Arizona shortly after and we remained friends to this day. I hadn’t seen her in quite a few years but we spoke and text regularly. There are not enough good adjectives to describe Carol! After we spoke I would have a smile on my face for hours! I will miss talking to her for the rest of my life but will try to be like her and make people smile and be positive! It was an honor to know her!”
