He was predeceased by: his brother Jack Barnhart. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Barnhart (Rellich); his siblings, Richard Barnhart of Evansville, IN and Marna Wilburn of Stephens City, VA; and his pet Sadie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, where David adopted his beloved Sadie.
