He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Hoopengardner and Jane Hoopengardner; his spouse Alleene Mae Frost; his son Aaron John Hoopengardner; his grandsons, Jonah and Carter Motz; his brother Ronald J. Hoopengardner (Sandra); and his brothers-in-law, Barry Bernstein and Jack Frost.
He is survived by: his children, Angela Fentress of Hancock, Anne Motz (John) of Vienna and Adam S. Hoopengardner (Lisa) of Warfordsburg; his grandchildren, Tristan, Noah Motz, Emma Fentress, Mae and Gavin Hoopengardner; his sisters, Linda Bernstein, Doris Hoopengardner, Donna Rowland (Mike) and Terry Shade (Mike); and his sister-in-law Barbara Gwaltney. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifetime friends.
