He was predeceased by: his parents, Lyle Floyd and Mabel Marie Buterbaugh (Snyder); his brothers, Thomas "Jerry", Kenneth and Wayne Snyder; his grandson Rob Robertson; and his son-in-law Rich Robertson.

He is survived by: his wife Lula Mae Buterbaugh (Sexton); his children, Deborah Robertson and Edwin Buterbaugh (Lisa); his grandchildren, Rich Robertson, Ryan Robertson (Cassandra) and Angela Robertson; his great grandchildren, Haley, Tyler of Brady, E. J., Bella, Champ Robertson, Jordynn and Jaycee George; and his sisters, Joan Shirley and Sandra Lucas (Russell).
