He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Fulmer Fairchild; and his parents, Weldon Fairchild and Louise Sinift Fairchild. He is survived by: his children, Douglas C. Fairchild, Jr. (Marybeth) of Aston, PA and Deborah L. Stauffer (Ernest) of Stevens, PA; and his grandchildren, Nadia, Nicholas and Josiah Stauffer.
