He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Lewis" and Evelyn Painter (McKendree); his spouse Lolagene Shick; and his brother James "Jim" Painter. He is survived by: his children, Robert Painter (Shirley) of Brookville, PA, Gene Painter of Brockway, PA, Susan Guild of Mentor, OH and Lisa Stair (Mark) of Brookville, PA; his grandchildren, Willie Painter (Jen), Elmo Painter, Eric Painter (Nicole), Matt Mohney, Brett Mohney, Isaac Painter and Lewis Painter; and his siblings, Dennis Painter (Kathy) of Clarion, PA and Patsy Truman of Sigel, PA. He is also survived by numerous step grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
