He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Smith and Hughes; and his siblings, Robert Smith, James Smith, Jerry Smith, Gerald Smith, Helen Pierce, Betty Geer, Shirley Martz, Phyllis June Newman and Alison Rosalie Holcomb.
He is survived by: his wife Lena Pauline; his children, William Randall Carpenter, Robyn Lee Carpenter (Larry) and Tammy Lynn Fiddler (Kyle); his siblings, Harold Smith, Richard Smith (Wanda), Leslie James Carpenter, Ina Jeanne Parton and Pamela Carpenter; his grandchildren, Larry Joe II Williams (Cynthiea), Kellan Fiddler, Keaton Fiddler, Zach Carpenter, Heather Plyler (Paul) and Brianna Cogley; and his great grandchildren, Dannielle "Danni" Williams, Levi Williams, Colton Hughes, Ella Plyler and Ava Plyler. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
