He was predeceased by: his siblings, Patrick and Kathleen; and his parents, Gerald Connell and Claire Connell (Wilson). He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Baxevane of Brodheadsville; his children, Moriah of London, UK, Alex of Middlesex, NC and Gabe of Philadelphia, PA.; and his siblings, Kevin, Rosemary, Sean, Brian, Terry, Tim, Nora and Dan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Matthew J. Connell Scholarship at Northampton Community College.
