He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Nichols and Violet Heitzenrater Nichols; his wife Wilma W. Clark; and his daughter Rose M. Hartzell. He is survived by: his daughter Carol Harvey (Bill) of DuBois, PA; his son-in-law Terry Hartzell of Hazen; his niece Judy Jordon of DuBois; and his grandchildren, Mathew Harvey (Christen), Michelle Molnar (Christopher), Michael Hartzell (Jami), Melissa Harvey, Michelle Hohl (Jason) and Kevin Harvey (Lisa). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
