He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Scherch and Sophie Kohler Scherch; his sons, George Joseph Scherch and Joseph William Scherch; his stepfather Milton Berstler; and his siblings, Frank Scherch, Milton, Daniel Berstler, Frances Blizzard, Josephine Fairall, Catherine Wiser and Mary Shaner.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Scherch; his daughter Catherine Joy Rose (Manny Maloney); his son-in-law John C. Rose, Jr.; his siblings-in-law, Jerry Scherch and Claude Shaner; and his daughter-in-law Patricia Scherch. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.
