He is survived by: his wife Carol Platzer (Slack); his children, John Platzer (Patti), Michael Platzer, Michelle "Shelly" Muckleroy (Matt) and Daniel Platzer; his grandchildren, Madalyn "Maddy", Macy and Maria Muckleroy; his sister Carol Dobson (Bill); and his close friend Ringo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Commonwealth Hospice.
