He was predeceased by: his parents, Merritt Makin and Flora Burt Makin; and his brothers, Carl Makin, Russell Makin and John Makin.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Makin of Bradford; his children, Diane Makin (Thomas Tati) of Kingston, NY and Brian Makin (Stephanie) of North East; his brother James D. Makin (Bonnie) of Nicktown; his grandchildren, Joshua Makin of North East and Elise Makin of North East; and his pet Louann. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
