Chester John Tanner Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Chester John Tanner Sr. (Bradford, Pennsylvania), who passed away on January 11, 2022 at the age of 99. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Chester John Tanner Sr. to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Frank and Neva Kemp Tanner; his former wife Viola Louise Victor (Watson); his wife Eileen Eaton; his children, Viola "Pudge" Menefee, Mike Tanner (Charlene) and James Watson; his grandchildren, Julie Ludwig Smith, Lisa Honey Tanner and Todd Lathrop; his stepgrandson Joel King; and his brothers, Roy Tanner, John Tanner, Sylvester Tanner, Stephen Tanner, Carl Tanner, Nelson Tanner, James Tanner and Ward Tanner.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Ludwig (James), Sally Stiebinger (George), Chester "Shay" Tanner, II (Sally) and Chris Butters (Robert); his stepchildren, Connie King (Norm), Gary Eaton (Carol) and Sandra Geyer (Henry); and his siblings, Maribelle Dunn (Gary) and Norman Tanner (Barbara). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19, and for the safety of the community Chester loved, visitation and services will be held privately with family and close friends from 3-5 PM Saturday (Jan. 15, 2022) at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes, Inc., Smethport, where funeral services will begin at 5 PM, with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating.
