James D. Black Obituary
James D. Black, 87, of Bovard, died Monday, January 17, 2022. He was born May 11, 1934, in Greensburg, a son of the late James A. and Esther Mardis Black. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Jim was a member, and former Chief, of the Bovard Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his longtime companion, Ann Fennel, and two brothers: Earl and Gerald Black. He is survived by a sister, Esther (Edward) Stitely, of Johnstown; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, at BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Members of the Bovard VFD will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home to honor Jim. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard. Private interment will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bovard VFD or Harrold Zion Lutheran Church.
