He was predeceased by: his parents, Evan Samuel Bechtold and Virginia Ruth Bechtold (Snyder). He is survived by: his wife Ann; and his children, Karen Gerlach (Rob) of Greensburg, James Robert Bechtold of Bolivar, PA, Jane Bishop (Lee) of Baltimore, MD. and Jeffrey DeAmicis Knowles Gerlach (Stephanie) of Boston, MA..

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bolivar United Methodist Church.
