Carol A. Clancy Obituary

Carol A. Clancy (Bible), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away in grace and peace on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Carol was born in 1930 to Charles and Evelyn Bible in Bronx, New York and was always a proud New Yorker. Carol married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Kenneth P. Clancy in 1954. They had three daughters, Jeanne, Carolyn, and Rosie, and two granddaughters, Riley and Hilary (for whom she babysat two days a week for many, many years). She always inspired and supported "the girls" in their interests, studies, and careers and was very proud of all of them.

When Carol and Ken moved to Pennsylvania in 1962, Carol became an active volunteer at Epiphany of Our Lord Church and School, serving as the chair of many events and president of the Ladies Auxiliary, where she met numerous lifelong friends as well. She attended classes with Ken when he was studying for the Permanent Diaconate and supported his work as a Deacon at Epiphany by serving as a Eucharistic Minister, participating in Bible study, and assisting with RCIA. She regularly brought Communion to patients in local nursing homes. Carol was a stalwart alto in the church choir for years.

Carol was a great reader and would regale everyone with stories about Mary Higgins Clark, who she had known since her school days and whose books she loved. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and the Cryptogram and completed them daily. Anyone who knew Carol well knew not to call between 7:00 and 7:30 because Jeopardy was not to be interrupted. During one of her final days, when Jeopardy came on, Carol perked up and exclaimed with joy, "It's Ken Jennings!". Before it went off the air, the same could be said about her passion for All My Children. Always ready for an adventure, she attended Live Aid with Rosie and Carolyn. She began taking art lessons in her eighties, becoming quite proficient. Carol found great companionship and uproarious laughter with her pinochle club and met monthly with her card-playing friends for decades.

Carol served her community as a Meals on Wheels volunteer, a Girl Scout leader, and as Judge of Elections. She reconnected a community of high school and neighborhood friends, inspiring a series of annual reunions in the 1980s and 1990s. After retiring to Normandy Farm Estates, Carol met a new group of friends while serving as Hall Captain, working at the Attic Treasures sale, participating in a book group, and writing several nostalgic and well-received articles for the Normandy News.

Carol was a great sports fan and tuned in to cheer on the Eagles through lots of bad seasons and one sensational Super Bowl. She loved her Phillies. Her Door of Fame showed off her certificates for attending her first Phillies game and for Walking the Bases on Seniors Day with Ken and Jeanne. It also included Hilary's accomplishments in Field Hockey at Washington College in the display. Carol loved horses and could always be found sporting a sensational hat on Kentucky Derby Day!

Carol and Ken shared a love of travel. Some of their favorite trips were to Saint John-USVI, Ireland, Alaska, Ireland, Italy, Ireland, the Outer Banks, Ireland, Paris, Ireland, the Holy Land, and Ireland. Carol was certainly a proud Irishman! She, her mother, her mother-in-law, and her dear friend, Betty, went to Italy to commemorate the Holy Year in 1975; they had lots of fun and squeezed in a couple of church visits, too. The family spent a summer in Arizona, where she discovered Tex-Mex food, and the entire family went to Ireland in 1997, and she, Ken, and Rosie toured Austria and Germany with Jeanne and The Mastersingers. Carol and Ken also took fabulous trips to Ireland and Corolla, NC with their church and pinochle friends. One of Carol's last trips was to Halifax, Nova Scotia to wish a Bon Voyage to granddaughter Riley, as she set sail for Semester at Sea. AND Carol enjoyed nothing more than spending time at the Bible Family bungalow in Southold NY on the North Fork of Long Island.

Carol is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her daughters Jeanne, Carolyn, and Rosemarie; her granddaughters Riley and Hilary; her son-in-law Charles Stanley; in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and countless friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Epiphany of Our Lord Church (3050 Walton Road, Plymouth Meeting PA 19462) at 11:00 am on March 29, 2022, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Covenant House, 461 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY‎ 10001 - https://www.covenanthouse.org.
