He was predeceased by: his parents, Doyle K. Sands and Gertrude E. Sands (Boyer); his wife Patricia Park; and his sisters, Jean Freas and Joanne Nutaitis.
He is survived by: his children, Richard J. Sands (Carolyn) of Selinsgrove, Mary Suzanne (Brent Seely) of Bloomsburg, Joseph P. Sands (Lorie) of Bloomsburg and Michael J. Sands (Christine) of Monroe; and his sister Sarah Jane "Salty" Ferguson of Orangeville. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
