He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Shekitka and Kathryn Shekitka; and his siblings, Samuel, Michael, Nicholas, Ann Kroviak, Kathryn Corvo, Dorothy Kechola and Irene Tracewski.

He is survived by: his sons, Joseph N. Shekitka (Deborah) and Gary Shekitka (Shannon); his granddaughters, Stephanie Runco and Sarah Samuelson (Mark); and his great grandchildren, Avianna, Reece Runco, Mackenzie and Olivia Samuelson.
