He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Anna Drwiega and Walter Wencel; his wife Elizabeth; his daughter Sharon Viiderg (Arp) of Parma, Ohio; his stepdaughter Marge Wolfe (Tom) of Eau Claire; his son Mark Wencel (Diane) of North Carolina; his brother Jim Wencel (Kathy) of Springdale; his stepson Robert Ostrovecky; and his sister Janet. He was also cherished by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
