He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Koontz and Margaret L. Koontz (Heller); his wife Ruby Koontz (Houser); his son Barry Koontz; and his siblings, Anna Blumberg, Carrie Dull, Mildred Adelsberger, June Miller, Paul Ralph and Woodrow Koontz. He is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.
