He was predeceased by: his son Donald; his parents, Earl Painter and Ethel Painter (Houck) of Smithport; and his brothers, Kenneth of Punxsutawney and Carl of Punxsutawney.

He is survived by: his wife Carole Jean (O'Hara); and his sons, Dean Painter, Jr. (Donna) of Millersville, PA and Doug Painter of Smithport. He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful for condolences but declines flowers and donations.
