He is survived by: his wife Virginia Mertz (Garofalo); his stepchildren, Barbara Sands of Nazareth and Larry Gunderman of Stockertown; and his siblings, Bruce Mertz (Terri) of Easton, Kenneth Mertz, Jr. of Allentown and Tammy Mertz (Luis Ortiz) of Easton.
