He was predeceased by: his wife Gloria Hammersmith (Gemberling); his parents, Robert Hammersmith and Mildred Hammersmith (Kessler); his son James; his granddaughter Marlene; and his daughter-in-law Nita.
He is survived by: his children, Richard of Bethlehem, John (Lynn) of Palmyra, Leslie Snow (Robert) of Bethlehem Township and Jenny Weiss (Stephen) of Williams Township; and his sister Elizabeth Hammersmith of Bethlehem. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard's name may be made to a veteran's organization of the donor's choosing.
