He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Fontanez Rivera and Cristina Martinez (Rolon); and his son Luis A. Fontanez. He is survived by: his children, Edwin Fontanez, Migdalia Saez, Wanda Fontanez and Mary Christina Fontanez. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and cousins.
