He was predeceased by: his spouse J. Sharon Simms (Hoffman); his parents, George F. Simms and Edna Simms (Guylfoyle); his son John K. Simms Jr.; and his siblings, Joan Greth and George F. "Bitzi" Simms.
He is survived by: his daughter Michelle R. Altemose (Dean) of Effort; his sister Ann Keglovitz of Stroudsburg; his grandchildren, Dean L. Altemose II and William J. Altemose; and his great grandchildren, Dean L. III, Alex and Eva.
