He was predeceased by: his wife Joan I. Smalley; his parents, Richard Smalley and Ethel Smalley (Walker); and his brother Walter Smalley of Charlotte, NC.. He is survived by: his children, Bert Smalley (Georgine) of Nazareth and Debbie Kocher (Tim) of Bath. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
