He was predeceased by: his parents, Foster E. Leonhardt, Sr. and Emma Leonhardt Goldstein (Johnston); and his brothers, Edward and Wayne Leonhardt. He is survived by: his wife Nadia Leonhardt (Lychos); his children, Lance F. Leonhardt (Monica) and Anne V. Leonhardt; his grandchildren, Steven, Michael Leonhardt, Victoria and Timothy Pojawis; and his sister-in-law Nancy Lychos. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
