He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Merwarth and Daisy Merwarth (Kline); and his wife Helen Werkiser Merwarth (Worman). He is survived by: his sons, Richard Merwarth (Maureen) of Huron, OH and Robert Werkiser (Diane). He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
