He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Butterworth and Beatrice Butterworth; and his brothers, Stanley "Stush" Butterworth and David. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy "Dot" (Polesiak); his children, Justine Meier (Peter) and Jason Butterworth (Janice); and his grandchildren, Alexandrea Meier and Jacob Butterworth. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to American Cancer Society.
