He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Kirk and Elizabeth Kirk (Zane). He is survived by: his wife Sharon McClung; his children, Daniel Kirk (Maity), Cathryn Kirk and Carlton Kirk; and his grandchildren, Kelli, Katie, Andy and Nate.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his memory to Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Institute at UPMC, 3459 Fifth Ave., Pgh, PA 15213.
