He is survived by: his uncle Bill Lacina; his wife Marilyn Hess Locascio; his siblings, Josephine, Vincent Locascio, Julia Antoinette Mleczynski and Mary Ann Locascio; his stepchildren, Nancy VanPelt Chiado (Douglas) of Berwick, Glenn A. VanPelt (Mary) of Berwick and Aaron G. VanPelt (Dina Melito) of Berwick; his son Robert John Salvo (Donna); his stepgrandchildren, Lon Ashton VanPelt, Leigh Ann VanPelt of Houston, TX, Shawn Colin VanPelt, Steven VanPelt Chiado, Amber Lynn Salvo, Robert John "R. J." Salvo and Harding; and his great grandchildren, Christian Michael, Alexander Matthew, Logan Andrew, Caleb Ashton, Claire Aine VanPelt of Houston, TX, Mason Lee VanPelt, Harvey Denson Chiado and Sylvie Gray Chiado.
In 2008 he donated his model of the USS Constellation to the McBride Memorial Library, where it remains on display.
