He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillian Bast (Stoufer) and Norton Ackerman Bast; his wife Florence M. Bast (McDermitt); and his children, Robert A. Bast and Eileen Bast.

He is survived by: his daughter Karen M. Gallagher (Thomas); and his daughter-in-law Kathleen Bast (late Robert).
