William Reese Obituary
William D. "Dave" Reese, 80, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Hilltop Health Care and Rehab Center in Altoona. Born on May 9, 1943, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late David A. and Mary A. (Tressler) Reese. On June 9, 1988, in Lemont, he married Mary L. Reed, who survives at home.
Dave was a 1961 graduate of State College High School. On January 27, 1965, in Bellefonte, he joined the United States Army. He earned the rank of SP4 before his honorary discharge on January 26, 1971. He received the Vietnam Victory Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal for his years of service. He was a Warehouse Foreman for Centre Beverage in State College, retiring after 32 years of service.
Dave enjoyed going to rides on back roads to look at the mountains, attending flea markets, and camping. He found it very relaxing to sit outside the State College Airport and watch the planes taking off and landing, and then going for a treat at Dairy Queen. Dave loved to watch Malcolm's Auction, any car shows, and cooking shows on TV. His favorite was Guy's Diners, Dives, and Drive-ins.
Dave was a life member of the Bellefonte VFW Post 1600 and a life member of the Bellefonte American Legion Post 33. He was Past Post Commander at both clubs.
Dave is survived by his wife, two children: Michelle Reese Lewis and her husband, Bobby, and Shawn A. Reese both of North Carolina: three step children: Kelly J. Wolfe of Bellefonte, Michele A. Johnson of North Carolina, and Troy L. Johnson of Bellefonte. He is also survived by one sister, Donna Kisslak of Bellefonte, eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 2-4pm followed by the funeral service at 4pm with Pastor Kathleen Danley officiating at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 201 Spring St. Milesburg. Full military rites will be given immediately following the funeral at the funeral home. The burial will be private.
