She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph D. and Mary C. Rio (Luchuck); and her son Matthew Joseph Hazel. She is survived by: her husband Charles V. Carson; her stepson Sean Carson of Washington, D. C.; her sister Patricia R. Whitaker (Michael) of Hudson; her nephew Erik Whitaker of Corning; her niece Kristen Cooper of Kent; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Kasey, Kyle Cooper, Rio and Vivian Whitaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susan's memory to the Bellefonte Education Foundation, with "Matthew Joseph Hazel Scholarship" noted on the memo line, and mailed to 318 N. Allegheny Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
