He was predeceased by: his parents, Therman Wiser and Sarah Woodring Wiser; his former wife Rose Myers Wiser; and his siblings, Therman Wiser, Jr., Gerald Wiser, Beatrice Filewich and Richard Wiser.

He is survived by: his wife Melinda Burns Wiser; his children, Deborah L. Wiser of Boalsburg, Rich A. Wiser of Philipsburg and Christopher Wiser of State College; his stepdaughters, Jami Miller (Tim) of Mill Hall, Stephanie Burns and Donna Burns; his grandchildren, Erica Wiser, Zach Wiser, Melinda Burns, Walter Burns and Skyler Holland; and his great grandchildren, Jacoby Black, Torian Burns and Talon Snook.
